Elite Mold & Engineering Supports Macomb Community
College to Receive EDJT Grant Funding
Shelby Twp., MI, August 19, 2009—Elite Mold and Engineering,
a leading provider of plastic-injection molds and molded parts, has
been approved by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation
(MEDC) for inclusion in the EDJT Pilot Program Grant. The approval
is for $20,000 to train 16 employees. Elite issued a letter of
support in October for Macomb Community College to receive funding
to provide training to local companies.
The Economic Development Job Training (EDJT) program seeks to ensure
that Michigan has the training resources to retain and attract smart
businesses and people. EDJT grants are funded by the MEDC as part of the
Manufacturing Competitiveness Program (MCP), an initiative to encourage
collaboration between regional employers.
“As we work to attract businesses and investments to Michigan, our
highly skilled and adaptable workforce is a critical asset,” Governor
Granholm said. “Upgrading the skills of our workers today will ensure
Michigan manufacturers continue to be competitive in a 21st century
economy.” Strengthening Michigan’s workforce is part of the plan, with
job training as one of the tools used to enhance Michigan’s
business-friendly climate.
“Elite has training needs that would not otherwise be met without
funding from a program such as this one,” said President, Joe
Mandeville. Elite plans to train employees on topics including: the ISO
13485 standard for the medical industry, lean manufacturing, and
systematic molding processes. “We are proud to support Macomb Community
College and the State’s initiative to keep manufacturing in Michigan
competitive.”
